Two generations of Parkinsons at the helm of Phoenix Aviation
Phoenix Aviation was delighted to host African Aerospace Editor-In-Chief, Alan Peaford, and Picture Editor, Ian Billinghurst, who recently visited us at our Wilson Airport offices to gather materials for an article on Phoenix to be published in an upcoming issue of the magazine.
This ‘fledgling’ magazine provides news, features and activity reports from throughout the continent, including air transport, defence, business aviation, general aviation, space, airports and people. It’s a must read for people in aviation in Africa or those with a keen interest.
Alan interviewed Phoenix Chairman, Bill Parkinson, and son, Steve Parkinson – Director of Special Projects, as well as MD, Sati Reel, who not only manages Phoenix but who is also in charge of our Engineering and Maintenance Department.
Alan and Ian were onsite during the return of our Citation Excel, piloted by Steve Parkinson, from a Mogadishu medevac with two soldiers injured in the Beletuein bomb blast. Phoenix Aviation has been partnered with AMREF Flying Doctors for more than 14 years and together perform approximately 1,800 medical evacuations every year.
